2021 Academy Residency Events

This year’s festival, with live concerts from August 12-14 and events beginning on August 5th, will feature 6 live concerts including 3 concerts co-presented with the Bulkley Valley Concert Association, a livestream series hosted by the resident professional musicians of the Orchestra North Retreat, and a special workshop weekend focusing on musical improvisation.

Live concerts will be presented in compliance with the most current BC CDC guidelines and public health orders. Audience capacity will be limited, social distancing encouraged, and mask-wearing recommended.

A Northern Welcome
7:30PM PDT

Featuring the Orchestra North Residency Ensemble: Erin James, violin; Roxi Dykstra, violin; Julien Haynes, viola; Thomas Beckmann, viola; Nicholas Denton Protsack, cello.

The epic and optimistic Dvorak double viola quintet, paired with works by Kodaly and Shostakovitch, all linked by a northern theme. Finally, welcome to live classical music once again.

Please note: this concert has a limit of 125 live audience members and will also be available to view online livestreamed on YouTube by clicking here.

To reserve your spot, placeholder tickets are available from Sharon Carrington’s studio at 4092 4th Ave, Smithers. There is a pick-up box located outside the studio door for ease of access. To claim your seat at the concert, present your placeholder ticket between 6:50 and 7:10 at Bethel Church on the evening of August 12th. At 7:10, admissions will be made available for any remaining seats on a first-come, first-serve basis. Donations for admission will be accepted at the door. Elegance and Wonder

Featuring Ken Hall, flute and the Orchestra North Residency Ensemble: Erin James, violin; Roxi Dykstra, violin; Julien Haynes, viola; Thomas Beckmann, viola; Nicholas Denton Protsack, cello; with Kiri Daust and Kent Dykstra, violin.

Revel in Mozart’s delightful flute quartet, featuring Ken Hall, flutist and executive director of the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, paired with Beethoven’s breathtaking C minor Quartet Opus 18 No. 4.

Please note: this concert has a limit of 125 live audience members and will also be available to view online livestreamed on YouTube by clicking here.
