The 2022 Orchestra North Owen Sound Festival is planning a live, in person festival for string playing participants. Workshops and lessons will be held at the Harmony Center Owen Sound, in accordance with local health regulations. This may include the wearing of masks and confirmation of vaccination status.

Program Outline

Junior Program: 9:00AM-12:00PM
Intermediate/Senior Program: 10:00AM-4:00PM
Location: Harmony Centre, Owen Sound
Activities include our new Pop Orchestra led by Victoria Yeh, string orchestra, musical creativity with Sharon Isaac, lessons, technique classes and more! The week will culminate with our Festival Finale Concert at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market.

*All programs include one (1) 30 minute lesson.
Additional lessons can be added in 30 or 60 min increments and purchased at check out for $60.00/Hour

Half-Day Junior Program
STRINGS ONLY, AGES 5-10

(RCM Preliminary- Grade 2)
Just starting out on a string instrument? Join our Junior strings class to make music with other young musicians and play songs you’ll want to keep performing all summer long!
Led by our popular and creative faculty, the program will include Junior orchestra, Songscaping Stories with Sharon Issac as well as technique class and a private lesson to help young musicians develop their skills. The junior program will be featured in our Festival Finale Concert, and particiapants are invited to faculty and guest artist concerts.
Junior Program classes are daily from 9:00AM-12:00PM at the Harmony Centre in Owen Sound.

Intermediate
Program
STRINGS ONLY
AGES 10+
July 11-15, 10:00AM-4:00PM EDT
(RCM Grade 3- Grade 6)
Intermediate string players will begin exploring the world of music through varied repertoire, group playing activities, and an exploration of techniques with our renowned faculty.
Rock out with Victorian Yeh and the Pop orchestra while exploring the lyricism of virtuosity of the great works for string ensemble under the direction of Sebastian Ostertag. Combining interactive classes with collaboration with other players, Intermediate participants will also have the opportunity to perform at Music at the Market’s Festival Finale recital, take lessons with Orchestra North Faculty, play chamber music with fellow participants, attend concerts and events and much more!
Intermediate Program classes will be held daily from 10:00-4:00PM EDT, at Harmony Centre Owen Sound include one 30 minute private lesson, and access to concerts and special events.

Senior Program
STRINGS
AGES 14+
July 11-15, 10:00AM-4:00PM EDT
(RCM Grade 7 and up)
Senior strings, players are invited to participate in this fun and intensive program featuring classes led by a faculty of nationally recognized performers and educators.
Over the course of five days, participants will explore the many technical and stylistic aspects of the musical world, while participating in masterclasses, technique and vibrato workshops, explore jazz, improvisation and other genres of music, attend and attend private lessons.
